I'm back!
After a nice vacation in Ontario and a few great weeks of CFL football, I have returned. The CFL has been pretty interesting in the past couple weeks, featuring weather postponements, upsets and shifts in the power rankings. Let's take a look at them, shall we?
9: EDMONTON ELKS (8)
Another big loss for the Elks this week came at the hands of the Lions, falling 32-14. Tre Ford had maybe the most embarrassing stat sheet from a quarterback I've ever seen, going 4/12 for 34 yards and one interception. He also rushed four times for 47 yards. Cody Fajardo stepped in at the end and in his limited action threw for more yards than Tre Ford did, begging the question of who will start at quarterback next week.
8: OTTAWA REDBLACKS (7)
After the start of the season where many people thought this year would be different for Ottawa, they are 1-5 through six weeks. Their most recent loss was a 23-20 heartbreaker against Hamilton. Dru Brown had a solid game, throwing for 283 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions, but the RedBlacks are still struggling to get the run game going, as William Stanback only ran for 40 yards on seven carries.
7: TORONTO ARGONAUTS (5)
A bye week! The Argos are very close to getting Chad Kelly back, so we may see them move up the power rankings soon.
6: MONTREAL ALOUETTES (3)
Bye week as well! Montreal is really hoping to get Davis Alexander back after their bye, as they've been on a two game skid without him.
5: BC LIONS (9)
The Lions aren't themselves without Nathan Rourke but when he's in, they are on point. The Lions destroyed the Elks handily at Commonwealth Stadium and continually punished the Elks defense all night as Nathan Rourke threw for 345 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Their defense shut down Tre Ford all day, only allowing 34 yards through the air from him.
4: HAMILTON TIGER-CATS (6)
The Tiger-Cats are above .500 for the first time since November of 2021 and this season is looking pretty good for Hamilton. Bo Levi Mitchell has been on point this year and the defence is looking better than last year's swiss cheese unit. Bo Levi and the Tiger Cats staged a comeback victory over the Ottawa RedBlacks, as Mitchell threw for 266 yards and two touchdowns. Jamal Peters also caught two interceptions.
3: SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS (2)
After the big weather delay that pushed the game a day back, the Riders looked terrible on the field, managing only 10 points against a very impressive Stampeders team. The usually potent Riders run game got shut down, as AJ Ouellette only managed nine yards on the ground. Trevor Harris woke up from a slow first half and threw for his biggest game this year, tossing 36 completions for 425 yards and one touchdown.
2: WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBERS (1)
The Bombers are coming off a loss into their bye week, but still look very dangerous with all the weapons they have on offence, now including Brady Oliveira. They are getting ready to play Calgary again, which may prove to be a big test.
1: CALGARY STAMPEDERS (4)
The biggest surprise of the 2025 season continues to impress as Calgary beat Saskatchewan even after the weather postponement that had reports of players sleeping in hotels, university dorms, or even going back to Calgary. The Stamps beat the Riders 24-10 at Mosaic Stadium. Vernon Adams sliced and diced the Riders defence for 428 yards, three touchdowns and two picks. Dedrick Mills had a solid game along the ground as well, rushing 14 times for 85 yards.
GAME OF THE WEEK: OTTAWA REDBLACKS AT HAMILTON TIGER-CATS
The RedBlacks went out to an early lead before the Tiger-Cats eventually came back in this Saturday night thriller that saw Hamilton win by only three points. This game was full of entertaining moments like Jamal Peters' two interceptions or Keelan White's first CFL touchdown.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: VERNON ADAMS JR
VA took full advantage of a little extra rest before his game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders as he threw for 428 yards in the air and silenced many doubters who said he couldn't throw a touchdown pass as he threw three in the contest.
PLAY OF THE WEEK: KENNY LAWLER
On a deep ball thrown by Bo Levi Mitchell, Kenny Lawler made a beautiful diving catch in tight coverage which may be the best catch we've seen all year.
WHAT TO WATCH NEXT WEEK
Will Chad Kelly return for the Argos?
Will Calgary continue their hot streak?
Can Saskatchewan win against a BC team with Nathan Rourke?
Will the Hamilton/Ottawa game be just as good as the last one?
