CFL Week Six In Review

We entered this week of CFL action with two undefeated teams and left with none, with the Riders and Alouettes earning their first losses of the season with injured starting quarterbacks. Speaking of teams that lost games, let's take a look at this week's power rankings!

#1: BC LIONS

The Lions proved why they are the top team in the west by beating the now 4-1 Roughriders. Justin McInnis had a standout day, while William Stanback did not, registering only 14 yards.

#2: MONTREAL ALOUETTES

The Als lost Cody Fajardo to an injury midway through this game, which threw Caleb Evans into a fire he was unable to quench, losing to the Argonauts at home. We will get an update on Cody soon, but during the bye week, there's nothing they can do but rest.

#3: SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS

We're starting to get a better idea of where the Riders fall this season, after they were handed their first L of the season. If Trevor Harris was in, would the result be different? Maybe, but Shea Patterson threw for almost 300 yards, which is very impressive for the second-time starter.

#4: TORONTO ARGONAUTS

The Argos plundered an injury-laden Alouettes team who lost Cody Fajardo to injury early on. Cam Dukes had a nice bounceback game to help push his team up over the Als 37-18.

#5: WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBERS

Here's where it starts to get interesting. It seems to me that the Bombers are getting back on track after a dismal 0-4 start to the year. They beat Calgary 41-37, but will have a tough test coming up when they face the Riders.

#6: CALGARY STAMPEDERS

Calgary was very close to getting a nice win in Winnipeg, but ultimately fell short. Still, they have some nice pieces in place, but they will have a tough game coming up against BC.

#7: OTTAWA REDBLACKS

Kalil Pimpleton popped onto the scene (sorry) on Sunday, with a huge performance that propelled his team over the winless Elks. Ottawa will have a rematch with Edmonton in the first game of Friday's double-header.

#8: EDMONTON ELKS

#1: They actually got rid of Chris Jones!

#2: They keep finding ways to lose games.

The Elks lost again on a last second field goal to set them back to 0-5. They will look to get their first win in Ottawa on Friday.

#9: HAMILTON TIGER-CATS

They had a bye week! But everyone still agrees that they're still the worst in the league, so not much to talk about here.

GAME OF THE WEEK: CALGARY STAMPEDERS AT WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBERS

Calgary proves to yet again deliver a show, win or lose. They put up a good fight, but in the end fell to the prowess of not only Zach Collaros, but Ontaria Wilson, who had a breakout game for his first-year squad.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: JUSTIN MCINNIS

Holy cow, what a game for Justin McInnis! The Rider fan in me hates it, but the CFL fan in me loves it. He had another bonkers game like the one he had last week in Hamilton, and deserves a look at MOP so far this season.

PLAY OF THE WEEK: PIMPLETON POPS INTO THE END ZONE

I had to do it again.

Kalil Pimpleton had a huge game against the Elks, but nothing topped his 60-yard scamper into the endzone off a dot from Dru Brown. The speed of Pimpleton was unmatched, as he enjoyed a nice stroll into the endzone.

WHAT TO WATCH NEXT WEEK

Can Edmonton get their first win under a new head coach?

Who will win the classic rivalry between Winnipeg and Saskatchewan?

Will Hamilton finally get a win against the rival Argos?

Can Calgary weather BC's storm?
